Nestled high on the winding roads of Jerome, Arizona—a National Historic Landmark perched above the Verde Valley—The Blazing Owl is a working candle studio, apothecary, and gallery that celebrates the art of the handmade.
Inside, the air hums with the scent of wax, herbs, and desert blooms. Visitors can watch candles being carved live, explore an ever-changing owner-curated apothecary, and discover treasures from local artisans who share a love of slow craft and sacred detail.
Our Story
Born in a historic car garage known as The Merchants Gathering, The Blazing Owl began as a tiny creative nook where visitors could witness candle carving in real time. What started as one artist’s table has grown into a beloved hub of light, scent, and community—an homage to both the ancient art of candle-making and the playful spirit of Jerome.
Today, The Blazing Owl thrives within its new gallery space on Hull Avenue, alongside Ghost Town Handicrafts. Together, we’re building a home for creativity by hosting classes, workshops, and exhibitions that celebrate local artistry with panoramic views of the red rocks below.

The Blazing Owl’s apothecary shelves brim with small-batch skincare, aromatics, and botanical remedies crafted by hand and heart. Each formula is made with care, from herbal therapy salves, essential-oil perfumes, body butters, and face serums, all created in limited batches by artisans who honor the healing traditions of plant medicine. Every product invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with your senses.

It began as a happy accident: a few owl figurines scattered throughout the shop for decoration.
They caught everyone’s eye.
Now, owl lovers from near and far flock here to find one-of-a-kind pieces…vintage, handmade, or lovingly collected.
